Putri KW advances to Japan Open quarterfinals after defeating home favorite

Putri Kusuma Wardani has advanced to the Japan Open 2025 quarterfinals after defeating the home favorite at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

The Indonesian women’s singles player — facing Tomoka Miyazaki in a match lasting 47 minutes — won with a score of 21-17, 21-14.

Putri KW immediately showed her dominance from the start — securing four consecutive points to take control of the game. Though Miyazaki managed to mount some resistance through net attacks, the Indonesian player maintained her lead with an 11-5 score at the first interval.

After the break, Putri KW‘s clever net play — combined with consistent pressure — made it difficult for the home representative to develop her game until the end of the match.
