Putri KW Advances to Next Round at Indonesia Open 2025

Putri Kusuma Wardani kept Indonesia’s hopes alive in the women’s singles event at the Indonesia Open 2025, as she defeated Thailand’s, Supanida Katethong, in a hard-fought match with scores of 17-21, 21-9, 21-8 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

First game slip despite early dominance

In the opening game, Putri KW controlled the rally through strong net play and consistent overhead attacks. She led 15-12 at one stage, but a string of unforced errors cost her the game, allowing Katethong to steal it 21-17.

Strong response in second and third games

The second game saw a revitalized Putri KW, who capitalized on her opponent’s mistakes and played with greater discipline. She surged ahead to an 11-6 lead at the interval, eventually taking the game 21-9.

The momentum continued into the deciding game. Putri dominated from the start, showing superior court control and mental composure to close the match with a convincing 21-8 win.

With this result, Putri Kusuma Wardani becomes one of Indonesia’s last remaining hopes in the women’s singles draw of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament.
