Putri Kusuma Wardani fails to reach Japan Open 2025 semifinals

Putri Kusuma Wardani had to acknowledge Wang Zhi Yi‘s superiority in the Japan Open 2025 quarterfinals at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Friday (18/7) — despite winning the first game 22-20.

The 22-year-old Indonesian women’s singles player eventually surrendered with a score of 22-20, 17-21, 16-21 — extending her losing streak against the Asian champion to six consecutive defeats.

“My gameplay consistency wasn’t perfect, I lacked consistency in applying techniques and strategy,” stated Putri Kusuma Wardani through PBSI release.

“Meanwhile, Wang Zhi Yi tried to maintain and use several shot speculations as she approached the final points in the third game,” she added.
