Coach Announcement Still Pending, Says Erick Thohir

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir has confirmed that the Indonesian Football Association has not yet finalized the head coach for the national team ahead of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

Three Candidates Under Review

PSSI is currently reviewing three potential names:

• Indra Sjafri

• Nova Arianto

• Gerald Vanenburg

However, each coach comes with existing responsibilities that impact their availability.

Nova and Vanenburg Likely Unavailable

Nova Arianto is expected to lead Indonesia’s U-17 squad at the 2025 U-17 World Cup in Qatar, which occurs just a month before the SEA Games. Meanwhile, Gerald Vanenburg is still committed to his role with Indonesia’s U-23 team, making his availability uncertain.
