PSSI moves FIFA Matchday September matches to Surabaya

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir announced the relocation of FIFA Matchday September venue from Jakarta to Surabaya — where Indonesia National Team will face Kuwait and Lebanon.

These matches are part of Patrick Kluivert‘s squad preparation ahead of the fourth round of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Asian Zone — while also providing an opportunity to find the best team composition.

“I hope the national team doesn’t always play in Jakarta, because the national team belongs to Indonesia,” stated Erick Thohir.

Choosing Surabaya as the host is a strategic move to bring Indonesia National Team closer to supporters across different regions — providing greater opportunity for fans outside Jakarta to directly support the national team.
