PSSI begins naturalization process for young FC Volendam striker

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir has announced that the federation will soon begin the naturalization process for FC Volendam striker — Mauro Zijlstra.

The 20-year-old forward is planned to strengthen Indonesia’s senior national team squad for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Asia Zone which will be held in the coming months.

Besides the senior level, Zijlstra also qualifies to play with Indonesia’s U-23 national team — which will compete in two important tournaments soon:

• ASEAN Cup U-23 2025
• U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers 2026
