PSM Makassar Requests Foreign Referee for Crucial Match Against Barito Putera

PSM Makassar has officially requested PT Liga Indonesia Baru (PT LIB) to appoint a foreign referee for their crucial Liga 1 match against Barito Putera, which is set to take place this weekend at Demang Lehman Stadium, Banjarmasin.

This firm step was confirmed by PSM Makassar’s Media Officer, Sulaiman Abdul Karim.

Ensuring neutrality in high-stakes Liga 1 battle

“The use of foreign referees in Week 33’s Barito Putera vs PSM Makassar match is considered important to maintain fairness and professionalism in Liga 1,” explained Sulaiman.

The upcoming clash carries different weight for both sides — while PSM Makassar has secured safety from relegation, Barito Putera is still battling to escape the drop zone.

Rising concerns over local referees

The demand follows increasing criticism of local referees, especially in matches affecting relegation battles. Several clubs have voiced concerns over inconsistent officiating potentially influencing outcomes.

By requesting a neutral and internationally experienced referee, PSM Makassar aims to ensure the match proceeds with full integrity and transparency.
