PSIS Semarang CEO Addresses Salary Issues and Relegation

PSIS Semarang is in the spotlight after a series of complaints emerged over unpaid player salaries. The situation intensified when several foreign players publicly voiced their frustration, exposing the financial turmoil within the Mahesa Jenar camp.

The matter did not go unnoticed, as the Indonesian Professional Footballers Association (APPI) stepped in to represent the affected players, demanding transparency and accountability from the club’s management.

According to sources close to the team, the financial crisis had been building quietly over recent months. Delays in salary payments reportedly began in the second half of the season, impacting not only foreign signings but also local squad members and staff.

Relegation and Fan Outrage

The financial instability translated into poor on-field performance. As the team struggled to maintain cohesion and motivation, PSIS slid down the Liga 1 standings. The breaking point came when the club was officially relegated to Liga 2 for the upcoming season.

Disappointed by the outcome, supporters demanded answers. Banners, protests, and viral social media posts criticized the club’s leadership, holding them accountable for the failure.

The crisis not only affected the team’s morale but also its image as one of Central Java’s most historic clubs.

CEO Yoyok Sukawi Breaks Silence

Amid growing public pressure, PSIS CEO Yoyok Sukawi finally addressed the issue through an official statement.

“With all my heart, I want to express my deepest apologies for this season’s results, where PSIS was relegated to Liga 2,” said Sukawi.

He admitted that the club had experienced financial difficulties, but emphasized efforts were underway to resolve outstanding salary obligations.

“We are working with stakeholders and sponsors to settle the arrears and rebuild trust with the players and fans,” he added.

The management now faces a crucial period ahead, as they seek to stabilize the club, maintain key talent, and make a swift return to the top division.
