PSIM Yogyakarta appoints Jean-Paul van Gastel as new Liga 1 head coach

According to Bolasport.com, Jean-Paul van Gastel has been officially appointed as the new head coach of PSIM Yogyakarta for the 2025/26 Liga 1 season.

Laskar Mataram — who recently won Liga 2 under Erwan Hendarwanto — had to seek a new coach as the previous manager lacked the required license for Liga 1.

“PSIM Jogja proudly announces the appointment of Jean-Paul van Gastel as head coach for the 2025/26 season,” stated the club’s official announcement.

Van Gastel brings an impressive track record — including successfully promoting NAC Breda to Eredivisie and experience as assistant coach alongside Ronald Koeman and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
