PSG Defeats Bayern Munich with 9 Players in Club World Cup Semifinal

Paris Saint-Germain displayed an impressive performance by defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Club World Cup semifinal match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta.

“There’s no magic formula,” stated PSG coach Luis Enrique before the match. “You have to adapt, improvise, and stop being predictable to the opponent, or you’re dead.”

The match remained balanced in the first half — until a collision incident between Jamal Musiala and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma resulted in the Bayern player being stretchered off the field.

Bayern Munich dominated the game in the second half with 57% possession — however, Désiré Doué opened the scoring for PSG in the 78th minute through excellent combination play with João Neves.

The situation became increasingly difficult for PSG after:

  • Willian Pacho received a red card in the 82nd minute
  • Lucas Hernández was also sent off in the 92nd minute

However, Luis Enrique’s team still managed to double their lead through Ousmane Dembélé in the closing moments — securing their ticket to the final at MetLife Stadium, New York.
