The Premier League has officially secured an additional UEFA Champions League spot for the 2025/26 season, following a string of strong performances by English clubs in European competitions. The confirmation came after Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg.

With the new Champions League format starting next season, the best-performing leagues receive extra qualification spots. This development means five Premier League teams could qualify directly — and potentially up to seven under special conditions.

Currently, the battle for those coveted spots is heating up:

  • Chelsea – 53 points
  • Newcastle United – 53 points
  • Manchester City – 52 points
  • Aston Villa – 51 points
  • Fulham – 48 points
  • Brighton – 47 points

If English clubs win both the Champions League and Europa League while finishing outside the top five domestically, the Premier League could have up to seven representatives in next season’s UCL.

Meanwhile, La Liga (Spain) is in line to receive a second additional spot based on UEFA coefficient performance — but Serie A (Italy) still has a chance to close the gap depending on the outcome of remaining European fixtures.
