Premier League 2025-26 Schedule to be Released Tomorrow

The Premier League will release the 2025-26 season fixture list on Wednesday at 09:00 BST — a schedule that requires 18 months of planning.

The competition consisting of 380 matches guarantees minimum 60-hour rest periods between games during the festive period, with a firm decision — no matches on Christmas Eve.

Glenn Thompson, the fixture planner for both Premier League and Football League, explains the compilation process that begins after the English League playoffs conclude:

“We place each club in a pairing grid system that determines their home dates. The computer then randomly mixes the schedule to determine the matches.”

The arrangement of 2,036 matches over nine months considers various factors — from travel distances, policing, to other scheduling conflicts.

“This is a compromise for all clubs, with no favoritism. The ideal solution ensures all matches can be played as scheduled,” Thompson adds.
