Piastri Misses Front Row in Austrian GP Qualifying

Oscar Piastri had to settle for third place in Austrian GP qualifying after a yellow flag in the final moments — caused by Pierre Gasly’s spin — prevented him from improving his time.

His McLaren teammate Lando Norris secured pole position, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed second place. McLaren has shown dominant performance throughout the weekend.

“The problem was I couldn’t even start the final lap. Gasly spun at the last corner,” Piastri explained. “While Lando has been very quick all weekend, I’m sure we had the pace to be on the front row.”

Ferrari with their floor upgrade showed surprising pace — challenging McLaren’s dominance who had previously been more concerned about Red Bull’s threat. Lewis Hamilton completed the top four by taking fourth position.

Piastri remains optimistic for tomorrow’s race — emphasizing that he doesn’t plan to finish in third position.
