Piastri appreciates Norris’ apology after Canadian GP incident

Oscar Piastri expressed appreciation for his McLaren teammate Lando Norris’s apology following their collision at the Canadian GP — a gesture that he believes reflects the team’s positive character.

The incident occurred near the race’s end when Norris attempted to overtake Piastri for fourth position. After successfully passing at turn 10, both cars made contact at the final chicane — forcing Norris to retire from the race.

“I haven’t seen the details of what happened, just felt a slight touch. But Lando has apologized, so I guess that explains everything,” said Piastri.

The current championship leader emphasized that open communication is crucial for team harmony. Piastri — who now leads by 22 points after 10 rounds — hopes McLaren maintains its policy allowing both drivers to compete against each other.

“It was just an unfortunate incident on the straight. I don’t think anything needs to change — because ultimately we’re both fighting for the world championship,” added the Australian driver.
