Piala Presiden 2025 successfully combines football with Indonesian culture

According to Bolasport.com, Piala Presiden 2025 — Indonesia’s prestigious pre-season tournament — has made history by featuring two international teams for the first time since its inception in 2015.

The tournament featured Port FC from Thailand and Oxford United from England competing against four Indonesian teams:

  • Arema FC
  • Persib Bandung
  • Dewa United
  • Liga Indonesia All Star

The organizing committee successfully transformed stadiums into cultural stages — combining football matches with Indonesian art exhibitions and creative economy showcases.

Fair play became a major highlight with international referees and VAR technology implementation — minimizing controversies in every match.

“It’s really interesting. Completely different from most pre-season trips I’ve thought of. The welcome we received from Indonesian people and the staff who looked after us throughout was truly touching, amazing,” expressed Will Vaulks, Oxford United’s midfielder.
