Philippines Men’s Volleyball Team Fails to Reach AVC Nations Cup 2025 Quarter-finals

The Philippines men’s volleyball team suffered their second straight defeat in Group C of the AVC Nations Cup 2025 — eliminating them from quarter-final contention.

Playing at the Isa Bin Rashed Hall, Bahrain, the Alas Pilipinas squad fell to Taiwan with a score of 1-3 (19-25, 25-23, 28-30, 20-25).

This loss came just a day after their defeat to Pakistan — last edition’s runners-up, also with a score of 1-3 (18-25, 12-25, 25-18, 22-25).

  • Taiwan and Pakistan will compete for Group C’s 1-2 positions
  • Philippines must settle for positions 9-11 playoff

This disappointing result serves as a warning for Philippines ahead of their FIVB World Championship debut this September — where they will be Southeast Asia’s sole representative.

The match remained tight in the first set until 11-11, before Taiwan pulled away to close the set at 25-19. The game was briefly interrupted when Taiwan’s player, Kan Maohhung, experienced landing issues.
