Philippines lose to Indonesia U-23, coach McPherson focuses on final match

Garrath James McPherson and the Philippines U-23 national team suffered a 0-1 defeat against Indonesia in the ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 match at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

Philippines’ defeat was determined by Rosquillo’s own goal in the 23rd minute — a fatal error while clearing a throw-in from Robi Darwis.

Philippines now occupies second place in Group A standings and still has a chance to advance to semifinals — depending on the result of their final match against Brunei Darussalam at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi.

“The final match is an opportunity for us to apply our experience and show our capabilities,” said McPherson.
