Persik Kediri appoints Ong Kim Swee as new head coach for Liga 1

According to Persik Kediri’s official announcement, Ong Kim Swee — former Malaysia national team and Persis Solo coach — has been appointed as the new head coach for the upcoming season.

This decision was made after management chose not to extend Divaldo Alves’s contract — the coach who only managed to lead the team to 12th position in last season’s Liga 1.

Muhammad Syahid Nur Ichsan, Persik Kediri’s manager, stated that the selection of the former Sabah FC coach was based on his track record and the performance of teams under his leadership.

The appointment of the Malaysian coach represents management’s swift action to prepare the team for the upcoming Liga 1 2025/2026 season.
