Carlos Pena faces significant challenges with Persija Jakarta — a team now dropped from Liga 1 2024/25’s top four positions. The Macan Kemayoran, who performed surprisingly well until January, are now experiencing a significant performance decline.

After replacing Thomas Doll, Pena managed to lead his team in close competition with Persebaya Surabaya and Persib Bandung. However entering the second round, the capital city team’s performance deteriorated — securing only one victory in their last nine matches.

Persija Jakarta currently holds 44 points, trailing two points behind fourth-placed Malut United. The gap with Persib Bandung, which was previously only three points, has now widened to 14 points — putting the management’s top-four target at risk of not being achieved.
