Persija Jakarta appoints Brazilian coach for upcoming Liga 1 season

After finishing seventh in last season’s Liga 1, Persija Jakarta is making significant changes for the 2025-2026 season — the capital city club has replaced their head coach.

The Kemayoran Tigers only collected 51 points from 34 matches in the 2024-2025 season — a result far below the top-four target set by club management.

As an initial step for the new season preparation, Persija decided to end cooperation with Carlos Pena and appointed Brazilian coach Mauricio Souza — a decision expected to bring fresh perspective to the team.
