Persib Bandung is reportedly targeting several players from the Malaysian Super League as part of their preparations for the 2025/2026 season. The news was shared by Malaysian sports journalist T. Avineshwaran.

Maung Bandung — currently on the verge of clinching their second consecutive Liga 1 title under head coach Bojan Hodak — have already begun shaping their squad for the upcoming campaign in a bid to maintain their dominance in Indonesian football.

One of the key names on their radar is Giancarlo Gallifuoco, a central defender from Australia with Italian heritage. Gallifuoco previously played under Hodak at Kuala Lumpur City FC, making him a familiar figure to the coach. Known for his strength in aerial duels and solid defensive awareness, the 30-year-old is seen as a good fit for Hodak’s tactical setup.

Persib’s interest in Southeast Asian-based foreign players also reflects a growing trend among Liga 1 clubs—who are seeking regional talent with proven experience and adaptability to the competitive environment in the region. Should the move go through, Gallifuoco could bring valuable experience and stability to Persib’s backline as they aim for continued success both domestically and in Asian competitions.

Aside from Gallifuoco, several other names from the Malaysian top tier are also being monitored by Persib’s scouting team—signaling the club’s proactive approach to transfer strategy.

With their ambitions growing beyond the local league—securing players with familiarity in regional football systems could prove to be a key advantage heading into the new season.
