Persib and Dewa United may add foreign players for AFC competitions

PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) President Director Ferry Paulus has given positive indication about possible foreign player additions for Persib Bandung and Dewa United — a move targeted for upcoming AFC competitions.

This policy emerges as Indonesia currently sits at 25th position in AFC rankings — below Cambodia. Last season, Indonesian representatives faced disappointing results when Persib was eliminated in ACL League Two group stage, while Madura United failed in AFC Challenge League semifinals.

For next season, Persib will return to ACL League Two, while Dewa United will compete in AFC Challenge League — both teams received opportunities to represent Indonesia after AFC limited the country’s representative quota.
