Performance Decline: All Indonesian Representatives Stopped at Japan Open Quarterfinals

According to Bolasport.com, Indonesian badminton performance faced another disappointment after all representatives were eliminated in the Japan Open 2025 quarterfinals at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

Three Indonesian representatives competing in the round of eight — were forced to end their campaign on Friday (18/7). This result extends the unsatisfactory record throughout this year, with only two titles from Super 300 level out of total 17 BWF World Tour tournaments and one continental championship.

Head of Development and Achievement at PP PBSI, Eng Hian responded regarding this performance decline:

“Looking at these 6 months results, there must be something more to be done. Whether it’s coaches making more specific programs, from these 6 months results we can see what our athletes are lacking.”
