Pep Guardiola interested in coaching South American team after Club World Cup dominance

Pep Guardiola – Manchester City manager – has expressed his interest in managing a South American team after witnessing their dominance in the 2025 Club World Cup.

Teams from the CONMEBOL zone have shown impressive performance – suffering only one defeat in 11 matches played in the tournament.

“Welcome to the real world. Welcome to my friends’ world,” said Guardiola to The Athletic. “You seem to just move your belly and not see what’s happening, because they (CONMEBOL teams) are good.”

The Spanish coach criticized the overly Euro-centric view of football – stating that South American teams’ success in this tournament comes as no surprise.
