Manager Pep Guardiola has expressed full confidence that Manchester City will secure a top-five position in the English Premier League — the minimum target to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The top of the table is tightening with Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa collecting 66 points from 37 matches, while City sits sixth with 65 points but still has one postponed game.

“If we don’t qualify for the Champions League, it means we don’t deserve it and will play in the Europa League. But I am confident we will qualify. We need four points and that’s our main target,” said Guardiola.

The last home game against Bournemouth will be a farewell match for Kevin De Bruyne at Etihad Stadium — the 33-year-old Belgian midfielder will leave the club after 10 years.

City will end the season with a visit to Fulham this weekend, determined to secure a Champions League spot after failing to win the FA Cup trophy following a loss to Crystal Palace.
