Pearly/Thinaah Yet to Decide on BAM Future After Sudirman Cup

According to The Star, the future of Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pairPearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan — with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) remains uncertain as they have yet to sign a contract extension.

The world No. 5 duo recently returned from Xiamen after competing in the Sudirman Cup 2025, where Malaysia exited in the quarterfinals after a 0-3 loss to China.

BAM Secretary, Kenny Goh, addressed the issue calmly:

“Yes, Pearly/Thinaah haven’t signed the new contract. They just got back from Xiamen. We’re not sure when they will sign, but we’re not rushing,” said Goh.

There is growing speculation that Tan/Muralitharan may be considering a switch to independent status, possibly after talks with sponsors outside BAM. A final decision on their future is expected to be announced next week.
