PBSI Welcomes 16 Russian Athletes for Joint Training Program

PBSI has opened its doors to 16 Russian badminton players for a joint training program — the initiative will run for two weeks from July 8 to July 21, 2025.

Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, a former singles player who now serves as PBSI’s primary men’s singles assistant coach — will lead the training sessions with Russian athletes. Ihsan, who belongs to the same generation as Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, has a distinguished record as Indonesia’s hero in the 2017 SEA Games men’s team final when he defeated Lee Zii Jia.

“First, I observed the capabilities of these Russian athletes. They’re still adapting since they just arrived yesterday, but I can see they all have quite good quality,” Ihsan stated in PBSI’s press release.

The training program will focus on developing technique and footwork — aspects considered crucial for improving their on-court performance.
