PBSI Protests Umpire Decision in Indonesia vs Denmark Tie

According to Bolasport.com, PBSI has lodged an official protest following a controversial call made during the Indonesia vs Denmark tie at the 2025 Sudirman Cup in Xiamen, China.

Disputed Point in Mixed Doubles Clash

The incident occurred during the mixed doubles match between Rinov Rivaldy/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Jesper Toft/Amalie Magelund. Umpire Victor Wong awarded a point to Denmark after ruling that Rinov Rivaldy had touched the shuttle before it went out — a call that ended the first game.

However, video replay clearly showed no contact from the Indonesian player, who was facing away from the umpire at the time.

PBSI’s Appeal and Match Outcome

Despite an immediate challenge by Rinov/Gloria, the umpire’s decision stood, and the first game was awarded to Denmark. The Indonesian pair eventually lost the match 22-20, 21-23, 16-21, although Indonesia won the overall tie 4-1.
