Paul Pogba set to return to French football with AS Monaco

According to ESPN, Paul Pogba — the midfielder who helped France win the 2018 World Cup — is in talks with AS Monaco to join as a free agent.

The 32-year-old player has endured a difficult period after receiving a doping sanction from Italian anti-doping authorities in September 2023 — a four-year punishment that was later reduced to 18 months following an appeal.

After his contract with Juventus ended mutually in November 2023, Pogba has not returned to the pitch. While previously linked with Saudi Pro League clubs and FIFA Club World Cup participants, negotiations with Monaco are now in final stages.

This return to French football will be Pogba’s first since leaving Le Havre to join Manchester United in 2009 when he was just 16 years old.
