Paul Pogba joins AS Monaco after two-year absence from football

Paul Pogba has officially joined AS Monaco after signing a contract with the Ligue 1 club — marking his return to the pitch following nearly two years of absence.

The World Cup-winning midfielder turned down a lucrative offer from a Saudi Pro League club — choosing instead to resume his career in his home country with a two-year deal.

Pogba’s last match occurred almost two years ago with Juventus, before receiving a sanction from the Italian anti-doping tribunal for testing positive for testosterone. The initial four-year ban was reduced to 18 months, and his contract with Juventus ended seven months ago.

Despite being linked with MLS and Saudi Arabian clubs, the 32-year-old player decided to start a new chapter in France — the country where he began his youth career at Le Havre academy before spending time at Manchester United and Juventus.
