Pattynama Joins Buriram United, Becomes Third Indonesian in Thai League

Indonesian left-back strengthens Thai giants ahead of 2025/2026 season…

JAKARTA, July 7, 2025 – Indonesian national team defender Shayne Pattynama has officially signed with Buriram United for the 2025/2026 Thai League season, becoming the third Indonesian player currently active in Thailand’s top-tier competition.

The move was confirmed by Buriram on Monday through its official social media channels, where the club welcomed the 26-year-old left-back, who arrives after parting ways with KAS Eupen in Belgium earlier this year.

“Buriram United have reached an agreement to sign talented Indonesian left-back Shayne Pattynama, who has terminated his contract with KAS Eupen to add danger in the 2025/2026 season,” the club stated.

A new challenge in Southeast Asia

Pattynama joins the reigning Thai champions to fill the club’s ASEAN player quota, following the path of fellow Indonesians Pratama Arhan (Bangkok United) and Asnawi Mangkualam (Port FC), who are also making waves in Thai football.

At Buriram, also known as Thunder Castle, Pattynama will wear the number 20 jersey, previously worn by Laos international Lamnao Singto during the 2008/2009 season.

Before his move, Pattynama played 23 matches for KAS Eupen in Belgium’s second division. His contract with the club was terminated in early May, leaving him a free agent for nearly two months.

International track record

A naturalized Indonesian citizen since January 2023, Pattynama made his senior international debut in June 2023 in a friendly match against Argentina. Since then, he has earned 11 caps and scored one goal—during Indonesia’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier opener against Iraq.

Although that match ended in a 1–5 defeat in Basra, his performance was noted as a bright spot for the national side.

Buriram’s ASEAN focus

Buriram United also introduced five other new signings for the upcoming season, including Singaporean striker Ilhan Fandi, and four domestic players: Elias Dolah, Korraphat Nareechan, Shinnaphat Leeaoh, and Pathompol Charoenrattanapirom.

Pattynama’s arrival underlines the club’s ongoing commitment to tapping into ASEAN talent as part of its strategy to remain dominant both domestically and regionally.

As Buriram prepares to defend their title, all eyes will be on Pattynama—who now carries both the hopes of his new club and Indonesian football fans eager to see him succeed abroad.
