According to Sydney Morning Herald, Patrick Kluivert has a special connection with Australian football — the new Indonesian national team coach previously served as a guest assistant coach at Brisbane Roar.

Kluivert’s coaching career began after retiring at age 32 — the former Dutch national team striker started his journey as an assistant to Louis van Gaal at AZ Alkmaar.

His coaching experience grew when Queensland Roar changed its name to Brisbane Roar — where Kluivert replaced Shin Tae-yong, who had previously served as player-coach.

Now, Kluivert will make his debut as head coach of the Indonesian national team in the 2026 World Cup Qualification match against Australia.
