Patrick Kluivert leads Indonesia to World Cup qualification fourth round

Patrick Kluivert has guided Indonesia to the fourth round of 2026 World Cup Qualification — an achievement reached through an interesting journey.

The Dutch coach took over from Shin Tae-yong in January, collecting six points from four matches — matching his predecessor’s tally that required six games to achieve.

Two narrow 1-0 victories were secured under Kluivert’s leadership — defeating Bahrain and China thanks to goals from Ole Romeny.

However, the team struggled against Asian powerhouses in away matches — Kluivert’s high defensive line strategy has yet to yield optimal results.
