Patrick Agyemang One Step Away from Joining Derby County from Charlotte FC

According to ESPN, Charlotte FC striker Patrick Agyemang is on the verge of moving to English Championship club Derby County — with a transfer fee reaching $7 million.

The 24-year-old forward from East Hartford, Connecticut is currently representing the United States national team at the Gold Cup — where his team will face Costa Rica in the quarter-finals.

Agyemang has scored two goals in the tournament, including the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Haiti in the group stage. Overall, the striker who is now in his third season with Charlotte FC has accumulated 17 goals and four assists in 59 league appearances.

Derby County — who finished 19th last season — hopes Agyemang’s arrival can help the team move away from the relegation zone, while Charlotte FC currently sits in ninth place in the MLS Eastern Conference.
