Park Joo-Bong Gets Two-Year Contract to Lead South Korea to Sudirman Cup

Historic Return for Park Joo-bong

According to BWF Badminton, Park Joo-bong has officially been appointed as the head coach of the South Korean national badminton team under a two-year contract. His primary mission is to lead South Korea to glory at the 2025 Sudirman Cup.

This appointment marks a significant moment in his career — it’s the first time Park will coach his home country after over 20 years coaching Japan. His selection comes amid the management restructuring led by new Badminton Korea Association (BKA) president Kim Dong-moon.

A Lasting Dream Fulfilled

“This is my last chance to coach the Korean team. It has always been in my heart that I wanted to become the head coach of the Korean team someday,” said Park.

“If it didn’t happen, I would retire as a coach. Initially, I had no expectations. Then the offer came at the last minute, and I accepted the position,” added the 1992 Barcelona Olympics gold medalist.
