Prediksi Paraguay vs Uruguay di Kualifikasi Piala Dunia 2026 (06.06.2025)

On Friday, June 6 at 06:00 WIB, at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium in Asunción, the Paraguay national football team will host Uruguay in the 15th round of the South American qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Both teams have 21 points and occupy fifth and third places in the standings, respectively. The goal for both teams is to stay in the top six over the remaining four matches. They have a six-point advantage over Venezuela, who are in seventh place.

In the Paraguay – Uruguay matchup, bookmakers give slightly more chances to the hosts, mainly considering the home field factor. Betting on a win for the “red and whites” offers odds of 2.57, a draw 2.85, and a win for the “celeste” 3.38. The total goals over 2.5 is rated at odds of 2.82, meaning experts expect a very low-scoring match. The bet that both teams will score is accepted at odds of 2.17.

Paraguay

After the failure at last year’s Copa America, Argentine coach Gustavo Alfaro was invited to lead the team. It seems the new coach has settled in well. In eight World Cup 2026 qualifying matches under his leadership, the “Guarani” have not lost once. During this period, they have conceded only six goals, traditionally emphasizing defensive reliability. But it’s worth noting the significantly increased scoring output. In those eight games, Paraguay scored ten goals, whereas in the previous six qualifying matches, they managed only one goal.

Uruguay

Under Marcelo Bielsa, the selection of players is noticeably higher quality than their upcoming opponent. Some of the brightest names include Rodrigo Bentancur from Tottenham, Matías Olivera from Napoli, and Darwin Núñez from Liverpool. These stars have won prestigious titles in Europe this season. However, in the last eight South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, “La Celeste” has won only once. They currently have enough points to not worry about qualifying, but neither fans nor the federation’s leadership are satisfied with Bielsa’s results, especially considering the quality squad at his disposal.

Statistics and Head-to-Head

Since 2021, the teams have met four times. Uruguay won twice with the same scoreline of 1-0, and two matches ended in goalless draws. No goals were scored in the first round of the current qualifiers either. This explains why bookmakers expect a very low-scoring match in the upcoming game.

Prediction

It should be noted that the visitors have greater attacking potential. Therefore, the recommendation is to bet on Uruguay not losing in the number of corners, with odds of 1.93.
