Singaporean Valorant giant Paper Rex has secured the first slot for the upcoming VCT Champions Paris tournament this September.

The team has not broke a sweat so far, cruising through the group stage and into the playoffs’ upper bracket. Their only minor surprise came against Zeta Division on the final group stage day – a match that ultimately didn’t affect their position as Group Omega leaders.

And PRX’s dominant form continued tonight in their first playoff match against T1. Playing in front of the home crowd didn’t faze the W gamers, who dismantled the South Korean esports powerhouse with a decisive 2-0 victory.

The first map on Sunset saw T1’s strong early game, repeatedly cornering PRX and controlling crucial areas. Duo Kim “Meteor” Tae-oh and Ham “iZu” Woo-joo showcased exceptional map awareness to build an early lead.

However, momentum shifted dramatically as PRX closing in to 7-8. A strategic timeout adjustment saw PRX return with aggressive dominance. T1 failed to reply to the new strategy and faltered in the late game, conceding the map 13-8.

The second map on Bind sealed T1’s fate. The resilience they showed earlier vanished, and PRX controlled the map with relative ease. T1’s couldn’t crack PRX’s disciplined defense, who closed out the final map swiftly 13-6.

Coming up next: Paper Rex vs Talon Esports

PRX’s victory over T1 this evening gave them a total of 19 Pacific points that automatically qualifying them for Champions. The Singaporean now lead the standings by 6 points over T1 (13 points) and 7 points over DRX (12 points), who will continue their fight for the Champions spot through the lower bracket.

Despite securing their Champions ticket, PRX boys emphasized they won’t ease up. Their focus remains fixed on claiming their second major trophy this season.

For the next battle, they are set to face Talon Esports in the upper bracket final on August 17th. While PRX holds a strong track record against Talon in the Pacific circuit, the Thailand Pride’s current form in Stage 2 is formidable. Talon must not be underestimated as they are now boasting high morale and momentum.

Furthermore, significant prize money provides extra motivation for both teams to push towards the final. The Stage 2 champion will take home $100,000 USD, with the runner-up earning $65,000 USD – a substantial incentive alongside the prestigious ticket to Paris.
