Paper Rex and Wolves Esports Advance to Masters Toronto Playoffs

Earlier today, Paper Rex and Wolves Esports secured the final playoff spots for Masters Toronto 2025 after finishing 3rd and 4th in the Swiss Stage.

Both teams aimed to finish the Swiss Stage early on Day 2 (June 10th) but eventually hit the walls: PRX suffered a clean sweep against the better-prepared Gen.G, while Wolves’ intense attacks weren’t enough to take down Sentinels.

This forced them into a final round against statistically even opponents: Team Liquid and BiliBili Gaming. Ultimately, their winning mentalities shone through in these decisive matches.

Paper Rex vs Team Liquid

The European Dark Horse opened with a narrow victory on Split, edged out a 15-13 after double overtime. Despite PRX leading mid-game, a clutch by Liquid’s Georgio “keiko” Sanassy turned the tide in the last moment.

The Singaporean giants struck back decisively on Sunset. Dominating throughout, they secured a commanding 13-5 win fueled by standout performances from Wang “Jinggg” Jie and Patrick “PatMen” Mendoza.

High octane gun fights ensued in Lotus. PRX stormed ahead 11-1 in the first half and nearly closed it out at 12-3. However, Liquid mounted a stunning comeback, forcing overtime at 12-12. After tense back-and-forth action, PRX seized momentum in the final moments to claim a hard-fought 14-12 victory.

Wolves Esports vs Bilibili Gaming

On the other side, Wolves swept rival Bilibili Gaming 2-0. The series began on Ascent, where Wolves dominated with a convincing 13-5 win. Executing a solid double-sentinel strategy, they controlled key areas through relentless aggression led by Liu “Spring” Chun-ting, who racked up 38 kills.

BLG pushed back on Game 2 in Split, dominating the pistol round and narrowing the score gap. Unfortunately for them, this momentum was short-lived as utility play orchestrated by captain Pong “SiuFatBB” Ka-hei allowed the Chinese Wolves to close out the map 13-10.

As things stand, PRX will face G2 Esports, and Wolves will fight RRQ in the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals on June 13th and 14th.
