Paper Rex and Gen.G Dominate Day 1 at Masters Toronto 2025

VCT Pacific representatives, Paper Rex and Gen.G, wrapped up Day 1 of Masters Toronto 2025 with strong performances, securing the top spots in the current standings.

Paper Rex redeemed their poor showing last season by dominating Team Heretics with a decisive 2-0 victory. On Pearl, they displayed absolute control, winning 13-1. Their powerful double-duelist composition proved highly effective, led by ace Wang “Jinggg” Jie, who recorded an impressive 253 ACS—well above his average from last tour.

The second map on Icebox was closer, but PRX maintained control and closed it out 13-9. Duo Patrick “PatMen” Mendoza and Jason “f0rsaken” Susanto delivered an incredible combo play to seal the second half convincingly.

Meanwhile, Gen.G secured a similar result, defeating Brazilian powerhouse MIBR 2-0. The disciplined play of Kang “solo” Keun-chul’s boys effectively pressed the attacking potential of MIBR’s star player, Erick “aspas” Santos.

MIBR offered little resistance in either game. Gen.G took Sunset 13-5 in Game 1, and dominated Haven 13-1 in Game 2. This commanding performance was fueled by star duo Kim “t3xture” Na-ra and Kim “Karon” Won-tae, who led the KDA charts across both maps.

As things stand, Paper Rex and Gen.G now hold second and third place in the Swiss Stage, competing with BiliBili Gaming and Sentinels who are also in the qualification zone. These two VCT Pacific giants will face off early tomorrow on Day 2 of Masters Toronto.
