Painful comeback drama: Thai volleyball teams suffer consecutive defeats

Thai volleyball experienced a disappointing day as both national teams — men’s and women’s — suffered defeats through identical comeback patterns by their opponents.

The women’s team led by Guedpard Pornpun began their second week of VNL 2025 in Hong Kong with a dramatic loss against Japan. Despite winning the first two sets, they ultimately fell with a score of 3-2.

Thailand’s attacking trio consisting of Chatchu-on Moksri, Pimpichaya Kokram, and Warisara Seetaloed performed impressively early in the match. Senior middle blocker Thatdao Nuekjang emerged as the top contributor — scoring 21 points.

Thailand’s dominance in the first two sets was reflected in the scores:

  • Set 1: 25-18
  • Set 2: 25-23
  • Set 3: 20-25
  • Set 4: 15-25
  • Set 5: 11-15

However, Japan managed to turn the tables by winning three consecutive sets, ending the match with a dramatic victory.
