Oxford United CEO impressed with President’s Cup despite challenges

Tim Williams, Oxford United CEO, expressed positive impressions of the 2025 President’s Cup — despite his team facing various challenges in Indonesia. The U’s received PSSI’s invitation thanks to their two Indonesian national team players, Ole Romeny and Marselino Ferdinan.

The English club played three matches with mixed results:

  • Indonesia All Star (won 6-3)
  • Arema FC (won 4-0)
  • Port FC (lost 1-2)

The match against Arema FC resulted in injury for Ole Romeny — the 25-year-old striker received a tackle from Paulinho that will likely keep him sidelined for several months.

Si Jalak Harupat Stadium’s field conditions became an obstacle during the Port FC match. Coach Gary Rowett revealed his disappointment to Oxford Mail: > “If I’m being honest, I’m disappointed with how we played.”
