Onic Yeb Reveals His Strict Policy to Maintain Top Performance

Legendary MLBB coach Onic Yeb (Paul Denver) recently shared a key method he uses to keep the team performing at its best season after season.

After retiring just before MPL ID Season 15 began last February, Yeb became Onic’s Esports Vice President, seemingly ending his competitive coaching career. However, he surprisingly returned as interim coach when Onic struggled midway through the season.

The Filipino coach’s impact was immediate. Under his guidance, the Yellow Porcupines – previously led by Adi “Adi” Asyauri – climbed from the elimination zone at 7th place to finish the Regular Season in 3rd. While it wasn’t enough to secure an Upper Bracket spot for the MPL ID S15 playoffs, this was a significant turnaround in such a competitive season.

This achievement sparked curiosity among MLBB esports professionals about Yeb’s methods. In a recent Gang Catcher YouTube talk show, he revealed key principles that help him in shaping the best Onic team in Indonesia.

One for the team

Jokingly calling it “vibe coaching” to lift the team’s early-season slump, Yeb went on explaining his strict rule: he constantly reviews every player’s performance and replaces anyone showing a long-term decline.

“How I maintain (their performances) is by daily, doing reviews, like, reminding them what we need to do, reminding them what we need to do, our strategies, with our timer is. Yeah, including what we need to do against other composition.

This one is really hard, but first, let’s say if one of my player is underperforming, maybe I’ll give him a chance for another season. But for the next season, if he still doesn’t perform, that’s my proof that you cannot play anymore. I need to change it.”

Yeb also emphasized that non-competitive factors can affect players’ mental states anytime, making it the coach’s duty to safeguard their physical and mental well-being.

Given Onic’s current form under Yeb, it’s no surprise MPL ID viewers are backing them again as strong contenders to reclaim the championship after last season’s disappointment.
