Do Public Scrims Compromise Team Strategy? Onic Kiboy Doesn’t Think So

The steep decline of Evos in MPL ID Season 15 has sparked reactions from MLBB esports professionals, who argue that the team leaked too many strategies by frequently hosting public squad sessions with other players. However, this claim was denied by Onic Kiboy (Nicky Fernando), who insisted that their gameplay quality was unrelated to such activities.

During a livestream weeks ago, Evos coach Afrindo “G” Valentino suggested that teams like Evos and Dewa Esports struggled in major tournaments because their strategies became predictable after openly streaming scrims on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

Key Evos players were notably singled out for regularly participating in these public sessions. G also claimed that rival teams gained an advantage by analyzing their exposed tactics.

Kiboy, Onic’s star roamer, dismissed these claims after finishing the Regular Season’s final match last weekend. Speaking via Revival TV ID, he emphasized that a team’s performance rests entirely on its players’ accountability:

“We’ve been streaming sessions for four seasons and still won four championships back then. So, I think it doesn’t matter anyway.”

Kiboy’s rebuttal is backed by Onic’s consistent dominance in both MPL ID and international competitions. This season, the Yellow Porcupine has reemerged as a top contender for the Indonesian title, especially after the return of legendary coach Paul “Yeb” Denver, who has sharpened Kiboy and his teammates’ performances this season.
