Ong Kim Swee Celebrates First Vesak Day in Papua After Persis Solo’s Victory

Persis Solo head coach Ong Kim Swee experienced a special moment after leading his side to a 2-0 victory over PSBS Biak in Week 32 of Liga 1 Indonesia at Lukas Enembe Stadium, Jayapura.

The match not only marked an important win but also coincided with Ong Kim Swee’s first-ever visit to Papua — which happened to fall on the celebration of Vesak Day, an important Buddhist holiday.

Ong Kim Swee Grateful for a Special Vesak Experience

“It never crossed my mind that I would celebrate Vesak Day in Jayapura, Papua,” wrote Ong Kim Swee in a heartfelt message on his personal Instagram account.

“But I feel grateful to be here on such a special occasion.”
