Oliver Bearman receives grid penalty after red flag incident at British GP

Haas driver Oliver Bearman suffered a major setback at the British GP — he received a 10-place grid penalty following a red flag incident during third practice session at Silverstone Circuit.

The 20-year-old driver lost control of his car and hit the wall at pit lane entry, resulting in front-end damage and forcing other drivers to take evasive action.

“We were doing a slow lap under the red flag, and going into the pit with very cold tires and brakes, I didn’t account for that. This is a silly mistake that shouldn’t happen at this level,” explained Bearman.

Despite making it to Q3 and securing eighth position in qualifying, the incident added to Bearman’s penalty points total of eight — this being his second red flag infringement in 2025 after Monaco.

Haas showed improved performance with their car upgrades — a car capable of P8 in qualifying indicates promising race pace potential, although Bearman must start from the back.
