Oliver Bearman receives 10-place grid penalty after British GP crash

Oliver Bearman received a 10-place grid penalty following a serious incident in British GP third practice session — he ignored red flag procedures and crashed in the pit lane.

The Haas driver entered the pit road at 260 km/h — faster than his previous normal racing condition lap. Bearman lost control and hit the barriers, damaging his car’s front section.

“We found that he was faster in this lap under red flag than a previous normal racing in-lap. To make matters worse, he lost control and crashed into the barriers while at speed,” stated the stewards’ report.

This incident adds 4 penalty points for Bearman — bringing his total to 8 points after previously receiving similar sanctions in Monaco GP for overtaking under red flags.

Prior to the crash, the session was also halted when debris from Bearman’s car detached and fell onto the track.
