Oddik Accused of CS2 Bug Exploit During PGL Astana 2025 Match vs. G2 Esports

A controversial moment unfolded during the PGL Astana 2025 group stage match between Oddik and G2 Esports last Sunday night (11/5), where the former has been accused of exploiting a bug in a CS2 map during the match.

Though Oddik ultimately won the series, the accusations stem from a game they lost—specifically on the second map, Dust II. The alleged exploit involved a weapon-drop loophole in the spawn area.

This issue was flagged by Daniil “alpha” Demin, an inactive player for Parivision, who observed the match. He explained that Oddik’s players abused a CS2 drop-system bug that was supposedly patched in an earlier update.

“Oddik abused a bug where your teammate can drop you a Scout/AWP, you can take one shot and then sell it. I’m more than sure that using such bugs is prohibited at Tier 1 events.

For those who don’t understand why this is a bug and not a feature, let me explain it step by step. Back at the start of CS2, you could buy any weapon, shoot as much as you wanted, and then sell it. Later in one of the updates, this was fixed – now it’s no longer possible to sell a weapon after you’ve fired it.

Except in one specific case: if a teammate drops you a weapon (apparently using Ctrl), you can fire one shot, give it back, and then they can sell it,” said alpha on social media.

The Russian player further argued that this bug significantly impacts high-level play. Teams could manipulate economy rounds by purchasing an AWP, gambling on a single shot for an early kill advantage, potentially creating a 5v4 situation.

PGL has yet to respond to the complaint. However, based on past CS2 tournaments, such issues are rarely addressed unless the bug completely breaks the map’s playability.
