Esteban Ocon has expressed his disappointment with Haas’ underwhelming performance at the Australian Grand Prix. The French driver — who joined the American team this season — struggled throughout the race weekend.

“If we had a little bit more performance, we could have been in the mix for points. The cars were fighting just in front and I was there, but unfortunately I couldn’t keep up,” Ocon stated.

Qualifying proved challenging — with Ocon starting from 19th position, while his teammate Ollie Bearman lined up at the back of the grid. Bearman’s weekend was further hampered by car damage in FP1 and gearbox issues in FP3.

This result is a stark contrast to last season when Haas finished seventh in the Constructors’ Championship. Team principal Ayao Komatsu now faces the challenge of diagnosing the team’s struggles—including postponing flexi-wing development plans following recent regulation changes.
