Lando Norris reveals his struggles adapting to the 2025 McLaren car — a confession that comes after his subpar performance at the Bahrain GP.

“The positive from this race is probably that it’s finished,” Norris expressed disappointedly.

The British driver endured a difficult weekend in Bahrain — starting with qualifying that placed him only sixth, followed by a grid penalty for incorrect car positioning, and finishing third behind his teammate Oscar Piastri.

Unlike Norris, Piastri delivered a perfect weekend by securing pole position and victory — reducing their points gap to just three.

Norris’s discomfort with the MCL39 appears to be the main factor in his performance decline. He admits being unable to find the same chemistry with the car as last season when McLaren won the constructors’ championship.

“I wish I knew the answer. Something’s just not clicking between me and the car. I’m not able to do any of the laps like I was doing last season,” Norris explained.

McLaren team boss Andrea Stella emphasized that the team will work together to help Norris feel more comfortable with his car. Meanwhile, Norris remains confident in his abilities and commits to bouncing back in upcoming races.
