Norris Admits Critical Mistakes During Canadian GP Qualifying

Lando Norris struggled during Canadian GP qualifying — the McLaren driver only managed to secure seventh starting position at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal.

“A couple of big mistakes happened. First, hitting the wall on the last lap exit of turn seven. And on the first lap, last corner. Two mistakes that cost me time,” Norris stated.

Norris’s teammate Oscar Piastri secured third position behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and pole position winner George Russell from Mercedes.

McLaren faces specific challenges at this circuit — low grip and intensive kerb usage making it difficult for the team to demonstrate their usual dominance seen in previous races.

  • Low track grip
  • Car balance issues
  • Difficulty handling kerbs and bumps

Despite the non-ideal situation, Norris who trails championship leader Piastri by 10 points remains optimistic about improving his position in the main race — though podium chances appear slimmer compared to previous rounds.
